The effects of providing paid formal work and training on women’s empowerment: Evidence from weavers’ collectives in India

This report presents the results of a process evaluation of interventions aimed at weaver communities in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana implemented by the Chitrika Foundation. The study examines the theory of change behind the intervention: that a combination of skills training, integrated processing units, and management and marketing support will enhance the capacity of women-led collectives. The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation commissioned this study as part of 3ie’s Swashakt: Empowering Women’s Collectives program.
